On November 15, 2024, Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC) announced a significant increase in import tariffs for photovoltaic modules, raising the rate from 9.6% to 25%. This adjustment applies to all imported solar modules and marks the second tariff hike within a year. The previous increase, effective January 1, 2024, had reinstated a 10.8% import duty on solar modules.
Despite these challenges, Leapton Energy is pleased to announce a unique opportunity for Brazilian customers. Over 30 containers of our premium PERC 670W Dual-Glass and TOPCon 585W Dual-Glass modules have already cleared customs in Santos, Brazil. These modules are not subject to the newly increased tariffs, offering significant price advantages compared to future shipments impacted by the new policy.
